As a graduate of Adlai E. Stevenson High School, Daniel understands how a high quality education opens doors, levels the playing field, and creates opportunities. He believes that every child in Illinois deserves access to a world-class public education, and he supports policies that will move us closer to achieving that goal.

Daniel supports comprehensive legislation that would reduce climate pollution, expand access to clean air and water, and build a 21st century economy. Tackling the climate crisis at the speed that science demands will require bold initiatives to upgrade our infrastructure, revitalize our energy systems, and restore our ecosystems. Daniel is committed to a 100% clean energy future, including solar and wind, and his voting record shows it.

Daniel is a leading voice pushing to make government more efficient, transparent and accountable. With over 7,000 units of local government in Illinois — more than any other state in the country — it is critical that we eliminate or consolidate many of these taxing bodies that are redundant, unnecessary or wasteful. Reforming local government by reducing administrative costs will provide relief to Illinois homeowners who continue to face unfair property tax increases year after year.

Daniel supports common-sense reforms such as banning deadly military-style assault rifles (which was accomplished in early 2023) and requiring all gun dealers in Illinois to be licensed by the state. He also supports closing loopholes that allow dangerous individuals to purchase firearms without a background check and let convicted stalkers come to Illinois to buy guns. Daniel opposes dangerous proposals to arm teachers that put children at risk and make our schools less safe.

Daniel supports proposals that require health insurance companies to provide coverage to people with pre-existing conditions. He opposes the dangerous plan pushed in Congress to repeal the Affordable Care Act and supports policies that will reduce drug prices and increase access and affordability for essential care. Illinois must also do more to ensure that our family members with disabilities have resources and skills that allow them to live independently and with dignity.

Daniel supports equal treatment and full acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. Our LGBTQ+ neighbors are more likely to become homeless, face incarceration, and struggle with mental health issues. Illinois has made great advances toward treating all of its residents with respect, but there is much more we can do to ensure our LGBTQ+ neighbors are free from discrimination and treated with dignity in education, by law enforcement, and when they seek medical care.

Daniel is 100% pro-choice. He believes that every woman should be guaranteed access to safe, affordable reproductive healthcare. With an extreme Supreme Court that has overturned Roe v. Wade, it is crucial that Illinois invests in organizations like Planned Parenthood that ensure comprehensive reproductive healthcare services are available to every woman. Daniel opposes proposals like HB340, introduced in 2019, that would have criminalized abortion and risked the health of millions of women in Illinois.
